When I smell Love Spell by Victoria's Secret all I smell is an incredibly disgusting and very strange fake apple, very fruity scent that is nauseating. I love sweet scents, Pink Sugar by Aquolina is one of my favorite scents. I also love some fruity scents such as Delices de Cartier by Cartier, Fantasy by Britney Spears and With Love, by Hillary Duff. But Love Spell is just sickening.

Children of the 1970's and 1980's and beyond will recognize the smell of Love Spell immediately. Do you remember that horrible bubble gum pink liquid children's antibiotic? I had to take that awful medication more times than I care to remember growing up. I would cry and throw a fit when
I was very young, because the taste and smell would just immediately nauseate me. I immediately vomited more than a few doses, because my gag reflex simply wouldn't allow me to keep it down. Love Spell by Victoria's Secret, smells exactly like this children's antibiotic. And I do mean exactly! And it's exactly as nauseating as that antibiotic is.

Another perfume that smells very similar to Love Spell by Victoria's Secret is Heiress by Paris Hilton. This is another scent that is best avoided unless you for some insane reason actually like Love Spell. Fragrance Oils or Essential Oils

Scenting your handmade soaps is a matter of personal preference. If you are are making soaps for your own use, then you can decide to use either fragrance oils or essential oils based on what you like. If you are selling your soaps, consider your market.

Essential oils are all natural plant essences. They can be derived from the plant material by several methods such as: steam distillation, CO2 extraction or cold pressing.

Steam distillation is done with a still. Pressurized steam is forced through the plant matter. The steam then passes through to a cooling chamber, where the steam is converted back to water. The essential oils from the plant are then skimmed off the surface of the water.

CO2 extraction is where liquid carbon dioxide is used to extract the oils. It is similar to the steam distillation in that pressure is used to extract the oils. When the carbon dioxide is allowed to return to its gas state, the essential oil is separated out and collected.

Cold pressed is the process by which the plant material is physically pressed until the essential oil is extracted. Citrus essential oils are commonly processed this way, as the peels are full of essential oils.

There are some scents where there is no essential oil available (such as banana) or the essential oil is much too costly or environmentally irresponsible to use (such as sandalwood or rosewood). This is where fragrance oils come in. Fragrance oils are a mixture of aroma chemicals. The mix can either be part artificial and part synthetic, or all synthetic. It just depends on the type of fragrance oil. Fragrance oils are not perfume oils, they are aroma chemicals which are not diluted, and like essential oils, should not be placed directly on the skin. They need to be diluted into your final product.

Fragrance oils are usually very complex, and can contain hundreds of aroma chemicals. When using fragrance oils for your soap, make sure that you are purchasing from a company that sells oils specifically for soap making. Reputable suppliers will have scents that are formulated according
to the RIFM (Research Institute for Fragrant Materials) standards. This means that the scents are safe for use in bath and body products. You do not want to use fragrances that are meant for candles or potpourri in your soaps, as they could be irritating to the skin.

If you plan on selling your soaps, you want to think about the market you are targeting before deciding which to scent your soap with. If you are going for the natural crowd, then essential oils are your best bet. If you are trying to please a broad audience, then offer both. I recommend using a 10% spot treatment benzoyl peroxide cream 1-2 times a day. However, if your skin dries out too much, reduce use to once a day or once every other day.

4. Cleansers: You don't have to get sold on the first expensive cleanser you see. There are some cleansers out there that cost upwards of $100 per bottle; this isn't necessarily a necessity for your skin. Things like Proactiv, Clinique facial soap, and Effaclar by La-Roche Posay work just as well, especially when coupled with an oil-free moisturizer.

5. Fluids: Speaking of moisturizer, you need to drink plenty of water in order to get rid of your acne. I know it's not real popular to have to go to the bathrooom 8 times a day, but your body will adjust. Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day if possible. A great way to do this is to set a timer for once an hour, and every time it rings, simply drink half a cup of water. By the end of the day, you'll have absorbed your daily quota.

Last, but certainly not least, you need to pay attention to what you eat. Now, I'm not saying that chocolate and pizza are giving you zits, but eating certain foods for a certain amount of time (about 3-5 days) will start healing your skin immediately by cleansing your pores from the inside-out. Best of all, of these acne treatment tips, this is the program I recommend most highly, and it costs less than $40 which is basically the cost of buying two acne cleansers.

Giorgio Armani was Born in Piacenza, Italy in 1934, Giorgio Armani is one of the most celebrated and influential designers Italy has ever produced. But it was only by chance that he broke into the fashion industry in the Sixties, after brief forays into medicine (having studied at Milan University) and photography.

Following his military service, Armani launched his career as a window dresser at a large Milanese department store, called La Rinascente. He later revealed that he developed his classic style during this time, following frequent trips to the UK. "England was virtually the most important centre for inspiration," he says. "When I was working for Il Rinascente we used to travel to London for the influences, to see the shops, to learn. I remember seeing some yellow cardigans in a small boutique and bringing them to Il Rinascente and everyone thought I was insane. Yellow cardigans were what the Duke of Windsor was about, they were not something for the average man. The entire idea of such clothing was so outré, so elitist... very, very English."

In 1964, armed with an in-depth knowledge of fabric and design, he was taken on as a designer for Nino Cerruti's men's clothing company, Hitman. Posts at Ungaro and Zegna were soon to follow. In 1974, Armani introduced his own menswear label, his first womenswear collection coming a year later.

Since 1975, Armani has overseen the launch of Giorgio Armani Junior, Underwear, Swimwear, Accessories and Occhiali. Capitalising on the cachet of his more exclusive label, he opened the first of a series of stores selling his cheaper diffusion lines, Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans, in 1981. In 2000, he added a new make-up range to his output, specially designed by Pat McGrath. Today, the Armani empire comprises some 2,000 emporia world-wide with annual sales of more than $1 billion. Thierry Mugler is an instinctive designer who never looks for inspiration. According to Thierry Mugler, "intellect is the servant of the spirit."

He strongly feels that his clothing is modernistic and not futuristic. Clothes of today should have nothing to do with the past. They should create elegance with simple form and structure and add defined shape to the body, volume, form and simplicity.

When one has found a method of self-expression, one evolves with it. His clothing attracts a woman of strength and elan.

Thierry Mugler was born in Strasbourg, France in 1948. He made his first outfit for a girl friend at the age of 14. He joined a ballet company, the Opera du Rhin, then moved to Paris at 19. In 1968 he started working as a window dresser in a Parisian store "Gudule". He visited London and Amsterdam. In 1970 Mugler worked as a free-lance designer.

In 1971 he returned to Paris. He showed his first collection for women called "Café de Paris". Azzedine Alaia joined him and helped to design his creations, until the late 70's.

In 1972 the design firm "Moonlighting" employed him as a designer designer for their Italian ready-to-wear.

In 1973 Mugler started designing under his own label in partnership with Alain Cardeuc. In 1976 Mugler showed a collection of Atric gold gathered boots. The "Punk" look was in, so Mugler applied this street look to his collection for 1977. In 1978 he showed broad-shouldered suits similar to the Military French coats, made in gabardine and leather.

In 1979 he launched his line for men.

During the 80's, Thierry Mugler was part of a trend. Along with Montana and Alaia, Mugler depicted women as wicked Hollywood murderers, bondage retailers of illicit sex, or Mae West clones. He made his models wear narrow girded loins, tight skirts, wide aggressive shoulders, revealing corsetry worn as armour plating with a bruised face, amounting to a travesty of womanhood.

In 1984 Mugler celebrates 10 years of the existence of his house by organizing a "Super Paying Show". This was a resounding success, 6,000 people assisted in the celebrations.

In 1985, he created the costumes for the musical "Emilie Jolie".

In 1989 Mugler gave birth to the "New Age Man" look, his message was to relax and be refreshed by a new set of priorities and not to try to impress people. His women's wear collection included a bright green Lycra bat-wing dress with Perspex wedge shoes.

1989-1990 Mugler presented a collection of dresses in acid colours, thigh-length boots, show-girl plumes, diamante bras, and a special group of outfits which took inspiration from the shape of cars of the time.

In 1990 several prominent designers created outfits based on famous paintings. Mugler took as his inspiration, a Picasso acrobat painted in 1930. In 1992 He launched his first perfume "Angel" In 1994 Thierry Mugler changes his salon to 4, Street of the Bears. In 1994 he also launched his "scratched" line with uneven hemlines and necklines.

Thierry Mugler is one of the few French designers to own their own factory, where dresses are made from prototypes perfected in the workshops. A good many of his designs are made to order, for the celebrities who make up his clientele list. In 1998, he was the first designer to create his virtual fashion show on the computer so that it can be seen on the net.

THE MUGLER STYLE

Mugler usually designs 2-piece outfits with a jacket feature, full sleeves, masculine cuts, emphasizing the waist and hips to create a perfect body. He often uses solid colours as a sculptor would. He often uses pointed angles on collars, hems, sleeves, waist and hips. He does use a lot of prints but at times uses patches of leather. He uses less of accessories and headgear. He tries to create drama into his clothing but usually the devil features, example gelled hair in the shape of horns.

Mugler also designs clothes for men but often uses bright colours for them like orange, yellow, etc. which is unusual for men's clothing. Fabrics: Jersey, vinyl, Lycra, Gingham and Leather are his favourites. He says "Fashion is a movie. Every morning when you get dressed, you direct yourself". He has earned a reputation for misogyny which he dislikes and says "when people say that my clothes are against women, it is because they are not easy to wear. You have to be in a good shape to wear my clothes and I like to design for such women - the clothes are more beautiful that way."

Mugler's quest is always to shape a perfect woman but underneath this glamorous exterior, his clothes are very well-structured and engineered, and of course sexy. Angel perfume toppled Chanel No. 5 from it's number one slot in the french fragrance market in 1998. So in early 1999 Muglier created 5 innovative beauty products under the name of Secrets D'Angel. The ancient Egyptians are generally credited with being the first people use perfumes, and perfume oils. The fragrances that they used came only from natural substances such as flowers, wood, aromatic plants and leaves, etc. The Egyptians are also credited with being the first to use fragrances and oils for skin care. They are also credited with being the first to use aromatic spices to preserve and give the body a pleasant fragrance at death.

Scented oil fragrances can be made from many substances. A finished scented oil product is a composition of a wide variety of substances, not all of which are used to produce scent. Perfume oils are a mixture of fragrant scented oils, aromatic compounds, fixatives, and solvents. Fragrance oils are used to give the human body, animals, objects, and living spaces a pleasant aroma. The reason for this is to evoke a pleasant reaction from either the person who applies the fragrance or others who will be effected by the aroma.

The ancient Greeks are credited with being the first to use stills to create and use liquid perfumes (not oils). They used herbs, spices, and flowers to create these first liquid perfumes. Oils were actually used long before liquid perfumes and colognes were even thought of.

The Arabs are credited with fine tuning the process of producing scented oils and excelled in using natural products to create perfume oils. In my opinion Arab perfumers still produce the best natural oil fragrances but Americans excel in producing the synthetic fragrances.

Some natural ingredients used to create fragrances are: 1) Plants such as cinnamon. 2) Flowers and blossoms such as rose and jasmine. 3) The rinds of citrus fruits. 4) Leaves such as lavender and patchouli. 5) Resins such as frankincense, myrrh, and pine. 6) Roots such as ginger, and 7) seeds and woods such as sandalwood. You can use your own imagination to list just about any compound that produces fragrance. We have given you a few examples here.

Some animal sources of fragrance are honeycomb, amber, which is derived from the sperm whale, and musk sacs which are used in musk fragrances. Most animal sources of fragrances have been replaced in modern times with synthetic compounds.

Fragrance must be extracted from the product which contains it. The traditional techniques include the use of heat, or solvents. They both leech the fragrance out over a period of time. Extracting fragrance may take weeks or months and must be done very carefully. Extracting fragrance always destroys some of the fragrance so it is a very delicate operation.

You can see that extracting and creating fragrance is a science and must be done very carefully. People will always use fragrance because it plays such an integral part of our everyday lives. The perfumer views his or her job of creating fragrance as a fine art. Finished products are hard to duplicate because there are so many ingredients and variations of technique that can be used. These are known only to the perfumer who has created the fragrance.
